I will make a brief description of the horizontal and vertical circulation of the Salt lake City Library located in Utah United States. Which was opened in February 2003.It is a 240,000 ft² (22,300 m²) five-story tall and it has a collection of over 500,000 books. This library provides its users with all services and also has an auditorium with a 300 people capacity. On the top of the roof it has a garden area from which you can see a 360 degree view from Salt Lake City valley.
For the horizontal circulation, the architect used corridors to go from one point to another. These corridors communicate the building not only on a horizontal way but also they let the users make visual contact with different points of the building because they are placed around a big central opening. These corridors occur on all floors.
On the vertical circulation the architect used to types of circulation one block of elevators and the other is the stairs that are placed perpendicular to the corridors so the users can watch them from any point of view. In my opinion the circulation of the building is really effective because the architect placed it in a way that the people know exactly were it is and were to go to move from one point of the building to an other.
